I have no evidence to suggest that this is true at all.

I would not have lived here for ten years if it was.

I can think of one or two that might match that description, but out of a population of a couple of hundred thousand or so, I wouldn't say that it was a fair summary at all...

What a stupid statement. At a minimum I would expect you to qualify that statement.

Sorry guys, if I have upset anyone. Heard more than one horror stories from family friends residing here, had a couple of meals poor service, poor food, coupled up with a few other other days with poor service.
Then just read what I have posted on a van in Famagusta written in English, quite surprised really
Just a bit disillusioned ?? Not normally feeling this way.

I agree with Keith.
There are bad apples in evey barrel. Sorry you seem to have been unfortunate.
The standard of service has deteriorated, though, over the last 8 years, particularly in restaurants, I think because demand is outstripping the supply of competant personnel. You need to be a bit selective and if you are new here, perhaps check with an old timer.
It also sometimes depends on your attitude. Many places expect an exchange of courtesies (Hello, your are you etc.) rather than just walking in and demanding service. It helps to learn just a little Turkish - even if you mispronounce it, the effort is usually appreciated.
As for the van, well the sense of humour can sometimes be a bit wry.

Hi Rambling Rose.
Been a swallow for 9 years now previous to that a swallow to the Souh for a number of years also.
I try and do all of the things you suggest, and yes on all of my previous visits never had problems that were worth mentioning.
I am just hoping it is just one of those run of one thing after another hiccups. I usually just love every minute here, never mind tomorrow's another day.

Possibly! No, just kidding, anyway if it was half true it would have said "Go home now - make more money and then come back - cause we love you" just kidding again before anyone starts on me, lol. But I loved the topic, does make one think with the way things have been going lately ie. Citizenship, work permits etc.. etc...
kiblet, I hope tomorrow brings a much better day for you.
