Hi,
I just wondered if anyone has bought a car from the south to use on visits to Cyprus (both north and south), and if there are any long term parking facilities near to Larnaca airport for storage of the car when not in the country?

We always use Skypark when flying from Larnaca I am sure they would do you a deal for long term parking if you emailed them.

A car bought in the south would have to be imported and duty paid
A south car run in the north risks being seized and sold

Yes Wanderer is correct we have friends whom this happened to , they were given about 2 weeks to get the car out of the country or have it seized.

Yes but you can visit with a GC car which is what Chris said he wanted to do, he does not live here.

Do you have a south address to register the car at?
If you do, and you only cross as a tourist, i.e. not a property owner, and most importantly have not imported a container of personal effects, should not be an issue.
I would suggest if you do this, always carry passport when driving this side so you can show arrival at Larnaca.
On this side, expect to be pulled over quite regularly.
The only place you may eventually have an issue is a the crossing when they register the car reg on the system against the drivers name. It maybe that they will see the length of the time in the North, and question if you are actually staying there.

Possible complications in the South if we leave the European Union.
We should not forget the distinct advantages as ex pat Europeans.
As Ex pat brits outside of Europe then isolation and right of passage as foreigners will soon become apparent.
I'm absolutely IN.
