Hi, I'm trying to get a reasonable internet/wifi service installed in my house in Catalkoy.

I wondered if there is a portable hot spot device for internet access being sold in TRNC, using a TRNC sim card?

I don't want to go down the Multimax route as I am only over in TRNC 20 to 30 days a year.

Any advice would be appreciated. Chris

Virtually any android 'phone can be used as a WiFi hotspot provided that you pay for 3G data.

Stick a Turkcell SIM in it, buy a few GB of data, go into 'settings', turn WiFi OFF, > 'more settings' > 'Tethering and portable hotspot' ON - that ought to do it

Even cheaper just sit in one of the many WiFi hot spots available in the Catalkoy district and use an iPhone/Android or similar tablet/phone's WiFi capability without the need for use of 3 or 4G...

BTW Multimax do a Freedom package aimed at those who are not here all the time... you can switch it on and off as required using the internet from the UK (or wherever) so that's it's on as soon as you arrive - although the daily fee + the annual fee for the equipment might make it more than you are willing to pay.

We bought a mifi from Turckcell, can't remember the price, we now just top up the data sim when we come over. The price varies by how much data want and lasts for a month or until you use all the data. If you make sure you are given a number you can top up as you would a phone which saves the price of a SIM card. We happily run 2 iPads, 2 phones sometimes 3. The SIM card lasts 10 months, same as a phone sim if not topped up. It suits us but perhaps depends on what you want to use the Internet for.

We bought a dongle here, we put 15gig of credit on it when we arrive, we brought a vodaphone sharing dock over from the uk, this allows us to use up to four devices off it wirelessly.
