I read in yesterday's mail that the EU move everything from Brussels to Strasbourg once a month for 4 days, the cost of this is 130 million pounds per year, another reason for us to quit I think.

They have been doing this for yonks and yonks. When I last checked on the figures it was 96million so if Mail has its figures correcf then the cost has gone up considerably.

Just love statistics - don't you?

Given that the total population of the EU is 508 million people and that everybody has to pay towards the 4 day move that costs £130 million each year, then the cost per person, per year to have (efficient) EU government is £0.26 (rounded up)!

Against that is the (July 2014) calculation for the average amount of Income tax that every person in the UK pays for the government of the UK = £4,985.00!

So, based on statistics alone - everyone (tax payer) in the UK will save £0.26 (before tax) per year, without a doubt it is worth leaving the EU for that amount of gain!!!

I can't see how moving a parliment even if it only cost 26p per person, add's to the organisation's efficiency.
Seems more like a reason to expand the membership to say Turkey so we can get the figure down to 6p.

I was tempted to and another sentence with "honesty" and "Government" in it - but I thought that was pushing the bounds of credibility too far - lol. Anyway, there is no reason to worry about the £0.26 a year it costs us, after June when the country votes "OUT" because they think that all the foreigners will then leave and go back to where they came from and that all the Mosques will turn into bingo palaces overnight - you won't have to pay the £0.26 a year and finally the Pound will be equal to the Euro. That will make the exchange rate here around 3.22TL to the £ - great times ahead.

Posts 4 + 8 - waddo, great posts, I love it. But maybe (being German and half KKTC) I should keep out of this, sorry. I, however, also remember too good the times before establishing the EU.

Might I suggest that you click on the 'thumbs up' icon on those posts if you like them ? I know I did on post 4 because I also liked it.

Thank you, Erol. Have done and will do in future.

I may add that, apart from the financial side, of course the time has come to put an end to this monthly movement. It doesn't make it better but it is still quite interesting to know the story behind it.
For the ones interested, just have a look at the last paragraph (“Seat”) here
