There is a brown and white dog at the Lemar in Alsancak which has a yellow ear tag. This colour identifies the dog as having been neutered, tagged and released in Famagusta. The dog is apparently causing problems at Lemar and KAR are being asked to deal with it (despite it not being a KAR tag dog or a dog that was originating from this area).
We are at a loss as to how the dog got there - someone must have moved it from Famagusta and dumped it in the Alsancak area.
If anyone knows anything about how this dog got to Lemar Alsancak, or has heard through the grapevine, could you please let us know as we really want the mystery solved. Thank you. KAR 0533 8694098 email kar@kyreniaanimalrescue.org

the dog has been around alsancak for at least 6 months.

We've seen this dog there for approximately 2 years now! She's a lovely dog, very friendly, but wary of people she doesn't know. Didn't know the ear tag was Famagusta, wrongly assumed it might be Lefkosa.

Lemar have asked people to stop feeding her as apparently she bit someone? I would say if she did, it's because she was being tormented or she was defending herself. Personally we have never seen any signs of aggression from her and she keeps her distance unless she knows you.

I suppose it's possible that someone rehomed her and then dumped her or she ran away? Can't see someone driving a street dog all the way from Famagusta just to dump it in Girne area. Especially as she's already been neutered and tagged unlike most of the street dogs in Famagusta.

Moyra, according the people at Lemar she has been biting chunks out of people!! What a load of nonsense, she's been wandering about from Baroosh, both sides of the road for yonks. If Alsancak Lemar accepted her like the Karaoglanoglu Lemar do, i.e. the "Lemar dogs", then she would be perfectly fine. I've fed her numerous times and she's just lovely albeit a tad wary. The man who supposedly had a large chunk of flesh bitten out of his thigh, didn't even go to a doctor let alone a hospital!! (At least that's my understanding of the situation) I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. Leave her alone, she's lovely but if she doesn't want to "speak" to you, then walk away. it's not rocket science for crying out loud.

Was there on Friday, there were four dogs(!) in the meantime (I am talking about the Lemar in Alsancak!), none of them aggressive. I have never seen that the "first" one (as seen on the photo in post 1) did anything to people, but he is just barking at coloured people and/or those who had black or dark clothes on during last winter, but apart from that doing nothing.

Coloured people? Who are coloured people?

My husband visits Lemar Alsancak every day and says the dog is not aggressive, wary of people it doesn't know but steers clear of the. He gives it (and other dogs who turn up) a pat and stroke and says she's always pleased about the attention. Depends how people treat dogs, doesn't it? She doesn't deserve demonising though, just a nice dog who generally minds her own business and stays out of people's way if she doesn't know them.

URGENT - can anyone offer this dog a home. Even if that home is on some spare waste land . She will be happy with a bit of company, regular food and water. Maybe a group of local people could share her - she would be a proper Community dog for your sok, sokak, - but not just 1 person has responsibility .
Please if anyone can find a safe place for this dog it would be great.
If a home (or safe place) cannot be found then there may be no alternative but to take her and put her back in the Famagusta area - that is not fair at all as she has been happy in the Alsancak Lemar area for quite a while now.
