What is the position with foreign bands performing

What would be the legal position for an (American citizen) musician to come to perform professionally in concert in north Cyprus

As far as I know, no problem at all, as it is the people here who have residency permits that cannot perform for money. But you would need someone more knowledgeable than I to give you an answer. For as I say, it is as far as I know.

What exactly happened with Julios Englasis (excuse spelling but too late at night for me to google it) and the ensuing court case which I believe he did not win. I have told a friend of mine that I would try to find out what the score is. She is trying to arrange a concert/gig for a well known american artist ( a friend of hers) who is of the 60's era and still performing and still very popular.

I am no expert but first they must get permission to perform here then they would have to pay tax on any earnings. The hassle has in the past put people off performing. However the people who have been bringing artists over are the ones to ask. Hotels such as Rocks and Colony have been succesful plus there is now a company organising events at Amphitheatre, which if you have not been is a superb venue. I am sure the will respond to your request, at the moment I cannot remember their details.

good old Kibkom ! Wanna know, it will tell? Seek an answer and you will find. And thanks for providing the answer entertaincyprus. I think the Inglesias case was because of all round stupidity, and has little to do with regular bookings and legal entertainment. some silly lawyer was seeking compensation because he wa s lured into performing in an unrecognised place and backed down. so glad that common sense prevailed and it came to nothing.
