Im selling my car & am not quite sure what the procedure is.I know I had to go to the Muhktar with the previous owner but can't remember if it was the buyers or sellers Muhktar.Does the person selling have to go to the vehicle licensing office in Nicosia to do anything with the log book?Any info would be appreciated.Thanks.

On both occasions that I have been involved, it was the seller's Muhtar, but I'm not sure that it really matters

It is in the interests of the person who is selling to make sure that the transfer of ownership is completed (in Nicosia) because otherwise, he will be 'first port of call' for any Summons' for traffic offences.

Thanks for the clarification - duly noted!
My previous comment re. the desirability (for the seller) of confirming that change of ownership has been completed, stands - for the reasons stated

We recently bought a car & did not need Muhtar's signature from either party.
Good advice above make sure you do the transfer immediately & then hand over the money we find it easier to use a 'fixer' who I think charged us 50tl.

The party we bought our car of, took us to a noter at the driving school near the police station in Kyrenia. The completed all the paperwork, before we went to the office in lefkosa.
Can't remember the cost but is was cheap, take your passport for each pearson you want on the log book ( ie; spouse / partner ).
