The verdict at the inquest into the Hillsborough tragedy is in, on the final question it was not a unanimous decision but the majority ruled that the 96 victims were unlawfully killed, what now.

Compensation claims from the deceaseds' families totalling many millions.

The Sun may have to print a few retractions too.

I think for the families justice is more important than money.

A 27 year cover up by the Thatcher Government, West Yorkshire Police and the lies published by the S*N newspaper has now been unravelled, Justice for the 96 at long last.

Yes and the cover up and statement tampering by the police was a disgrace.

Over 200 statements were changed or tampered with.

And people complain about the curruption over here.!

It was South Yorkshire Police and the same went on during the miners strike.

Our neighbour an ex-police officer maintained it was all down to druken yobs turning up late without tickets,

So why did the South Yorkshire Police find it necessary to tamper with the evidence?

Its because they knew the truth but couldn't accept part responsibility for the deaths of 96 completely innocent football fans,

Hopefully those who have covered this up and lied for so long will be prosecuted...especially the police involved in the cover up.....the truth at long last has triumphed

Sadly, this type of governmental and policing collusion corruption has been present within numerous countries from time immortal. Why do we expect the UK to be any different?

Quite possibly I will be denigrated and even abused - but "compensation"?
If any close member of my family died, either by natural causes or accident, negligence or criminal act, no amount of money could or would replace them. No doubt some will argue the loss of earning potential or some such would deserve compensation - but that would never be granted in the case of natural causes or accident, so (IMO) it descends to a matter of greed or revenge/retribution.
In the case of greed - no further comment.
In the case of revenge/retribution - surely, if acceptance and/or forgivness is not an option, the equivalent death of those responsible (by negligence or criminal act) is what should be sought - not "blood money"..... which (once again, IMO) merely dishonours the memory of the dead...

The only mention of compensation is by the media, to date no relative has even mentioned it, they just want justice for their loved ones, and why not, wouldn't anyone.

Without a doubt. No one set out on that fateful day to inflict any loss of life. The event was a tragedy. Terrible mistakes were made and comments accusations mistruths have been in abundance for many years. Fear, doubt, even uncertainty have led to a blame and counter blame culture that has prevailed for the 27 years.
The tragedy was a catastrophic accident that could have been avoided. Stadium policing, design and structure has drastically improved as a result.
Scape goats will offer consolation now.
Time to move on, learn , reflect, and let it never happen again

sounds good if it were simply a mistake and everyone learned from that mistake and moved on with the knowledge and determination to improve things and prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again. Sadly because of the lies and blame game played by South Yorkshire Police, that has never happened. The self interest of the force and willingness to blame innocent others rather than take responsibility of their own incompetence appears to be their only driving force. What was witnessed was a public service body that had no respect for the massive tax payers bill, told lie after lie and did everything possible to distort the truth. Statements changed, witness testimonies thrown out if they in any way could blemish the force and intimidation of officers who wanted to tell the truth. Nobody set out to cause the death of 96 people and we can all agree on that, but the corruption that followed is unacceptable and those that made the families fight to get the truth for 27 years must be held accountable.

Has one of the fathers said on BBC news what happened at Hillsborough was a unavoidable disaster what happened after was just a disaster.

İ happened to live in Liverpool mid 60's to '70....then went from my new career in North Wales to many games.And ,of course,as the religion there,went to games at Anfield and Goodison (Liverpool and Everton).It was virtually mandatory to have a few 'bevies'(Drinks) before the game.I can imagine when they approached the ground and saw so many supporters still outside,they knew they wouldn't get in,unless............Yes yes,the police,ground authorities so pathetic in being unable with the problem.And knowing that most of the Liverpool supporters would have had a bevy or three.Shame on the Police especially.You ALL deserve to be castrated !!!!! Rant over !!!
And shame on the Sun newspaper.for such infantile reporting.Scousers(Liverpool and Everton)love the game of football SO much,yes,and a few bevies before and after the game.But they are sober watching the game.RIP 96.

as a footnote,after going to a few matches,İ had to make a decision only to watch 1 team.........luckily İ chose Everton.....otherwise İ might have been at Hillsborough on that fateful day.
