Kib-Tek Paying Bill Whilst in The UK

I have been trying to pay my electricity bill now that Kib-Tek has installed these new fangled meters and improved their systems.

I received a Bill which I need to pay (they sent it via email after I registered) and told me to Pay through Turkish Bank (the only branch is in London) or using an international SWIFT/IBAN code.

I attempted to pay using the SWIFT/IBAN code route but this didn't work, so I sent an email asking Kib-Tek to confirm the codes were correct.

Today I received this answer:

"Dear Chris,

Unfortunetly we can not have this transaktion at the moment. transaktion doesnt go in the costumer accaunt By the other country only you can make payment from the local banks in TRNC. In near furter will be possible to make payment on line by visa/debit card, once our technical proplems has be sort it out.

Any ideas? Am I in danger of being cut off? Or will they be lenient until I get back to pay in October?

Do you know anyone here in the TRNC who can go in and pay for you or even put money on account for you? They will need details from your kibtek bill....account number, name, address etc.

Maybe you dont want to do this but we have all utility payments for kibtek, water etc paid by our bank here in TRNC. Have to say we did have some concerns when we set things up, but 4 years on it works well........also we can log into our online bank account and check each month how much is being paid....in case we do not get the kibtek text message.

Not sure if you would be cut off or not, but it does I believe say on your bill the date by which it must be paid....usually a month after bill received. So possibly will be cut off if no bill paid

Hope this helps

Another alternative - we've just bought last year and visit for 5/6 weeks twice a year, so on each visit have paid an advance of a couple of hundred TL to Kibtek and six months advance for local taxes etc - so far it's worked well...

Yes that is what I normally do - pay in advance.

Anyway, the helpful man has said that by the time I get back in October I will not have reached the 469 TL cut off limit.

So I should be OK, and again pay in advance when I get there.

Going forwards in the future I'm sure that eventually it will all be sorted for paying online.
