Has anyone else had this happen.whilst driving through Girne this morning, I put the radio to self seek. (it is a fairly old radio ) I got a English speaking station perfect reception. Radio 5 Live. Listened to a whole programme about the UK blowing 250 Mill pounds to try to encourage people to get back in the Gym.
I think it was 89.7 not sure will check next time I go to car.

That happened to us a couple of weeks ago just as we were going through the Metehan Crossing. I thought that we might have just picked up the Forces radio they have down South which was relaying Radio 5.

Yes, I listen to radio 4 in the morning and the same channel changes to UK local radio transmission later on in the day.
I think the british forces ( I know this isn't the right term..but you know what I mean?) radio transmits a variety of UK radio selection throughout the day.

Yes it is indeed BFBS (the forces station). I listen to it a lot, BFBS 2 relays a lot of Radio 4 outlet like Today, World at One, PM etc . It also relays some Radio5, especially live football commentary. There are two main tramsmitters on Cyprus at Dekeleia and Akrotiri, both can be received over a wide area, and there is a low power relay in Nicosia.
For further information go to
http://www.bfbs.com and search for Cyprus.

Good answers , thank you. But are you saying that we can receive this now in the TRNC, Ie, Girne, Lapta etc. or is just hit and miss. I did try to tune in at home but could not pick it up, But we live fairly high in Baspinar and Mountains tend to block signals.
Thank You.

JLee, go on to the Smooth Radio thread and try the FM frequencies. You can't tell until you try.
