If you haven't seen this, then it really is a must
watch. So has much changed or little changed?

Thank you, Marions, for bringing this programme to our attention. It was studiously even-handed and the individuals' stories were very moving , on both sides. If only the booze hadn't taken Christopher Hitchens - it would be wonderful to have a present-day update.

That's what I said on Facebook. If only there was a film-maker who could do an update to show what had changed, what had not and why. Personally I have seen many changes since then, and watching this brought back many memories for me - the terror I felt the first time I walked by the Green line and a car backfired (I thought it was a gun) and the intimidating soldiers with their guns. And yet one hears of many attitudes today that are trapped in the past, way before even 1989 when this film was made. And yes, what a bloke was Christopher Hitchens, who reminds me of other famous people I knew who had os much to give, but whose addiction took their health and life away.

Yes unfortunately the accompanying comments do not reflect the current situation... so it does need updating particularly with regards free passage between the two communities for GC's & TC's.

The misappropriation of Islamic Trust (Vacouf) lands is also not addressed and much of the corruption to do with selling off property that should belong to the TC's (Varosha was largely Vacouf deed land and could not be sold - and yet it passed into Greek Cypriot hands by the connivance of the Greek Cypriot controlled Land Office). This corruption was known about from the start of the British colonial period but a blind eye was turned....
