Am trying to set this up on my new phone and hitting problems. Before you are totally connected you have to give them your phone number including country code, they then reply via SMS with a code/password to set you off. Unfortunately they are not recognising my number and country code. Has anyone else had to same problem?

My number is a trnc number so I used the 0090 country code minus the 0 from my phone number and was sent my password code number.

Thanks both of you, however what you suggest suel5 just won't work and have tried about 6 or 7 times now. It seemed so simple. Those in the UK with their +44 have no problems at all. I was wondering if its because it asked for Country at first and we possible typed Cyprus but of course 0090 is not a Cyprus number (rather a TRNC number) !!

Did you put 0090 or +90 at the start? It can make a difference..

Sophie, 0090 is the code for Turkey, so maybe you are right, and there is a clash of data you have input. Just a thought.

I did mine recently but I did sync my old phone with my new phone first and transferred everything over including my contacts and all of the WhatsApp history. I then changed my number on WhatsApp from my UK number to my local Turkcell number and all was fine.

All OK thanks. Uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and fine now. I've noticed you there. Now I've just got to print out some of the 78 odd pages of instructions that go with my new phone and in about 6 months times I might have learned how to use it!!! Thinking I was doing the right thing I Bluetoothed contacts from my old phone (which of course included two email addresses and Skype) and now have 1365 contacts. Didn't know I knew so many people !! Modern technology.
