Transporting pets with Turkish Airlines

I've just found out that Turkish Airlines have DOUBLED the cost per kilo of transporting pets on their flights. Now 14 euros to Brussels and 20 euros per kilo to Paris (and I assume UK airports).
They have also restricted the number of pets per flight (not per person) to 2.
Also be aware that Ankara Travel in Girne charge an extortionate amount of commission: they quoted me £480 for a one way flight to Paris which was 268 Euros online.
Overland it must be for me and my four little treasures !

Turkish is still the best and the cheapest...
I was quoted stupid prices by all sorts of airlines when I brought my Cat and Dog.
Also why use an Agent ? Travel agents are a thing of the past.... Believe me.. I used to be one !!!!

We are using KAR to arrange our cat transfer to England. We took this root primarily because of the health requirements for animals travelling from TRNC to EU. Not just cost of flights to consider but ensuring pet passport is valid etc. We were surprised at amount of paper work to deal with and so glad we did not try to DIY, all you need is one thing out of place and you can end up with your pet in quarantine or worse still refused entry.
There is also a sizeable fee at LHR to be paid for clearance into England.

Thanks cyprusishome. I know I would most probably fly mine if I were going anywhere. Shortest possible time and hassle , and I guess the money charged is not bad compared with the fare for a hujman (which is the same regardless of size!). But I would be interested ot know what kind of fees are payable at LHR. Just curious for myself and others.
Thanks.

The paperwork is being done by professionals, not by me. I only posted to make people aware of the increase in prices. Turkish Airlines used tontake up to 5 pets, last week they reduced it to 3, and yesterday it was down to 2. Just be aware, that's all. I went to an agent because pets can't be booked online, not like excess luggage. You need prior authorisation from the airline, and Ankara travel are reccommended by KAR.

When we brought over two cats in 2010, I went to the Turkish Airlines check in desk at Manchester airport a week in advance and agreed a flight with them (changing at Ataturk).
When we turned up on the day they booked the two cats on as "excess baggage" for a nominal cost and the cats had the centre seat between us on both flights.
Perhaps things are changing nowadays.

Maybe easier to bring to TRNC but going to EU rules change for the better in some ways but obviously more bureaucracy.
Is costing us around £600 for flight ECN to LHR including all agents fees this end. Charge is £425 to process at LHR.

A Catalkoy company called Ship it put a topic on the the pets thread about transporting pets. I asked for more info but no reply as yet. I would be interested to know details, costs etc.

The rules on pets travelling with you on Turkish Airlines can be found on Turkish Airlines website including a table showing costs by weight. Turkish Airlines changed the rules in April 2016 and all costs are in US dollars within the table they provide. It also states that the number of pets allowed is PER PERSON and each person is allowed 2 but only 1 allowed in the cabin IF it weighs less than 8kg. If the pet weighs more than 8kg it has to go in cargo and the cost is double. It's all available to read on the website. I suggest people do that for their own peace of mind and the well being of your pet. Hope this helps.
