Kybele restaurant.

As I have family on holiday here we decided to show them Bellapais. The Abbey is beautiful and the village is very pretty. However we were very disappointed with the Kybele restaurant. When we had finished seeing the Abbey we called in for a drink and a snack. We sat down and waited and waited, no one even bothered to approach the table or speak to us so eventually we left and went elsewhere. I would like to say to the Kybele restaurant, PULL YOUR SOCKS UP. They appear to be only interested in the wedding packages and evening meals. Won't ever go back.

That's a real shame as last time we were there the service and food were both excellent. That is the problem, a different day and totally different service. I know on one occasion we had bad service because a coach party had just landed and I said I would never go back but eventually did and was glad I gave it another go.

Went for evening meal 3 weeks ago. Used to love it and it was a firm favourite, but this time was very disappointed, quality of meat appalling, Chef doesn't know how to make two of the sauces correctly so they were misnamed on the menu, food cold when should have been at least warm. (they had to carry it so far in the then cold, windy open air to bring to our table) No point in complaining, that's just way it is. As the Banshee remarks, they seem to concentrate on their wedding packages and the rest are add ons. Pity, because the setting is wonderful, especially in the evenings. I'm sure others will forgive it for the views alone.

For me, the Bell e Moon is the best place up there.

We too used to go to Kybele as the views are fabulous from there. However we have had food served that we did not order! It all depends on what they have in, I think? When your with friends you don't like to make a fuss so we just ate it. This is Cyprus. The place used to be good but I am afraid it is not the place it used to be.

Tried Kybele for the first time about a year ago as a visitor at a wedding. Can't say it was great: standard meze selection, same old fixed kebab service as everywhere else. After that called in with my husband for a dinner one night and was unpleasantly surprised about poor menu selection especially in the seafood section. Asked a few questions on how they cook their fish, didn't get competent answers, compared pricing and... left the place for Silver Rocks. Don't think we'll come back, only if our guests get very hungry while viewing the monastery, but then again there's Huzurlu Agac as an alternative.
