Selfish driver

Thanks very much (not!) to the English driver in a greyish hatchback who backed into our car this morning at the Lemar Alsancak car park, then said: "Forget it" as he drove away. The front of his car had been bashed in as someone had driven into him on his way to the supermarket, so it appeared he thought it was fine to pass on some damage our car then drive off. My husband was so stunned he forgot to note the licence number plate but if you know who owns this car, please let us know for insurance purposes.

How disgusting. Our friends car was hit on Illeli car park a few weeks back by English people, she got their license plate details etc. they promised to pay, but did not, reported to Police but they have moved now from the address given.

What a shame that we have this low life among us.

I can better that, as a Police officer I was called to a car in a car park which had been hit, there was a note on the windscreen, someone wrote " the guy over there thinks I am leaving my address on your car under the windscreen but guess what i'm not!"

Sadly it happens all the time and not just here. My car has been hit once by the beledye while parked and twice on lemur car park a guy at the traffic lights on the bypass who was turning right towards town suddenly decided not to and drove into me. He was a local and a son of an advocate his son promised to pay for the damage but never did.we only have to look at the mortality rate among locals to gauge the standard of driving. That said there is no excuse of driving off without paying for damage my advice spend £20 on an incar camera it helps immensely as the advocate eventually found out.

Listen the Brits here are worst offenders, they cannot drive to save themselves and are too fast,I have neighbours who should not be on the road whether drunk or sober report the gits they are giving all a bad name, all tarred with the same brush as they say.

We were quite lucky in that we didn't have too much damage, I think we're both so taken aback at the lack of apology and driving off with a second glance. What a complete muppet.

It is amazing here - I have just seen a BMW, fairly new, driven by a female, with a small child sitting on her lap and she was in conversation on her mobile phone at the same time. How clever to do all three at once!!!!!!

I am amazed how people who come on holiday here or indeed live here can still be shocked by what goes on here! Nothing, and I mean nothing surprises me anymore.

Whilst serving in the RN I always used to think that the hardest test to pass in the Royal Navy was the Chef's exam (because I reckon no one had passed it! ). But now I know the hardest test must be the driving test out here, again because I reckon no one has passed it!!!

As you can see he has been having a bash the Brit driver moment. Before the rugby started he stated that a pub would not show the England Australia test as he would be ashamed to see England whitewashed. As it happens they are losing the series 2 to 0 it was a tongue in cheek reference to that. Thank you

Back to the driving; why do so many Brits think it's OK to get behind the wheel if a car after consuming copious amounts of alcohol ?

"Do the police carry breathalysers in their cars?"

Some do and some don't. Most carry first aid kits. All mobile phones so can take pictures of the aftermath of some drunk who kills people (or themselves) because they don't think it matters about drinking and driving when they are not in their home country!

I wish the police would catch more drink drivers and instead or prosecuting them, make them visit five of the crash's that involve people dead at the scene - make them visit them before the bodies have been cleaned away!!!

So as its bash the Brit who have to pass a much harder test than people here would someone like to post the accident rate here and the percentage of Brits among them ? No ? Thought not it makes your argument look pathetic does it not. As regards driving while drunk or drugged I think they should be locked up again only Brits come on guys get real everyone is at it here all nationalities if you don't know that you need to get out. As regards accidents here I would say speed , on the phone not wearing seatbelts drunk and generally incompetent drivers in that order are the cause in this country.

Fatouche , it's not just the Brits who consume copious amounts of booze and drive.

And when they (stupidly) do, at least the have a degree of skill behind them, locals, in the main, struggle to control a car stone cold sober!

There you go Terry, had you let the comments sink in about the Brit drivers you would have seen it had nothing to do with the rugby but there you go,thats the way it goes.

Oh do try and keep up leither you do remember the silly remark you made on where to watch the rugby and Darren not wanting to show England getting beat three times in a row. Ha well that's not worked has it. Whose sorry now springs to mind. And now on this post bashing Brits again. I do assume you have taken a uk driving test which is a teeny bit harder than here also you have seen the death rate on the roads here so know who and what is at fault. Yes people should not drive while drunk is it only Brit no and many drivers here drive much worse when sober. Have a nice day.. Oh and who do you fancy on Saturday Australia??

I didn't say it was just Brits whobdrink and drive, but they're the ones who are so critical of road users here.

I would like to paraphrase this just to highlight the wonder of this post:-

All British people have such extensive skills behind the wheel of a car that they are able to drink drive and still out perform the locals of whom do not drink drive, therefore giving the British a degree of superiority in this general situation, because while they are committing a crime and putting people in danger they do it comparatively more safely than another nationality.

Can I assume they also drink-post better than the locals?

How the hell did a query I raised for people to keep an eye out for the pillock that damaged our car descend into a critique of drunk-driving English and the relative merits of English v. North Cypriot drivers?
