Will we still be able to go over the boarder with non EU
British pass ports has anybody thought of this.

Legally, until the UK is out of the EU then the answer would be yes. But remember that the RoC can refuse entry at its discretion and worry about it later, when they can fit it in with all the other important things they have to do! For instance they can politely (fat chance of that) say to you - "Please park or stand over there Sir/Madam, whilst we gain clarification of your status following the results of your passport issuers recent referendum decision to leave the EU.........Time Passes........Coffee Break........Passport control personnel changeover occurs.......you are called back to the office and asked what you are waiting for......Repeat of the first statement........Time Passes.......The will to live diminishes.......Time Passes.......You give up and return another day - lol. Oh yes and don't forget when you purchase the visa to enter the RoC (in 2 years time) you will have to enter by a recognized port of entry. So its simple really - take a flight from Ercan to Istanbul, a flight from Istanbul to Greece, a flight from Greece to the RoC and you are across the border - wonderful system.

Nothing changes until Article 50 is invoked, then the UK has 2 years to leave.

This won't happen until Camoron leaves, unless he changes his mind on that too of course. He did say he would invoke Art 50 the day after the referendum, but he has been a little economic with the truth over the last few weeks.

I think people are being a bit too complacent. Regardless of law, right/wrong etc., what EU institution is now going to listen to a complaint from a UK citizen about an EU country. So if the South introduce new rules/regimes then exactly what can we do?

I know from friends that the South has never liked the EU rule permitting non-EU spouses to travel with an EU passport holder. One guy with a wife from the East still hasn't been able to get her across after 3 years of marriage even though the law is clear - and despite numerous complaints to the UK consul and several EU institutions. This might be an area where they will try to 'test the water'.

Remember also that the South has a law on its books that permits the arrest and trial of anyone carrying paperwork about the sale/possession of property in the North. They had to suspend action because they could not interfere with free travel of an EU citizen.....but now?

According to a BBC website question and answer the EU passport will be ok for at least the 2 years it will take to leave after that the British passport will probably be given on renewal

So what happens at the 2 years and 1 day point and you still have 8 years left on your passport that you have just paid for? Will it be renewed free of charge - dream on - or will you have to pay for a new passport all over again? OR, will you have to wait till your old - and now totally useless UK EU passport has expired (in 8 years longer) and then renew it.

Too many questions and typical of the BBC not one coherent answer. My new passport is in the process of being delivered to my door here - my only hope is that they loose it - lol. But you can bet that if you apply for a new passport before the UK officially tells the EU that it is leaving, you will still get an EU one! You can't beat the Government - lol.

Only problem with getting the new one when the old one expires is that I will be left with an illegal passport for 8 years - I guess that is one way of stopping immigrants or expats from going back to UK - lol.

In a word NO.

ROC is most certainly not going to play ball with any British non European travelling from the TRNC to ROC.
Probably get another 2 years of free access and travel with the EU. Then expect to apply for visas and travel permissions in most European countries.
I don't expect much help from Europe now we are going through a divorce.
Visas are required for non Europeans.

Cyprus is still a Commonwealth country and the UK is their biggest market in the tourist trade, so personally I don't think that they will want to put up many barriers for UK citizens to gain entry, but it could be a different story for those of us who want to cross over the Green Line in either direction. I suppose the Republic will have to weigh up what it would mean for their economy.
