My shipping agent here has informed me that as part of the requirements to avoid paying customs/import duty on our personal effects whish arrive next month, I will need to obtain a Police document which confirms we have not been in country for more than 365 days in the last 2 years.
Does anyone know if I can get this in Girne or will I have to go to Lefkosia?

Go to the police station near the wednesday market. You go in through the front doors and go past some stairs on your right go past the stairs through the next doors and turn right. You will see a sign for the cikis giris reports. You need to take 11.5tl stamps with you along with your passport.

Assuming you live in the Girne. area. If you live in Famagusta, go there, if you live in Guzulyurt go there, if you live in Lefkosa go there etc. It depends upon the administrative area you reside in. The stamp cost may well rise from the useful information Gozoa posted above by the time you report to the relevant police headquarters. Please have some readies for the Customs charges upon delivery and unloading.

I required a report very recently and needed to take 11.5tl worth of stamps to get it from the Girne police station so I'm assuming it will be the same cost. There is a small cafe just outside the police station which sells stamps should more be required.

Update...I got my Cikis Giris documemt without any trouble whatsoever this morning. There was plenty of room in the Visitors' Car Park at Girne Police station......Gozoa's directions to the appropriate office were spot on.....I had to wait about 2 minutes before I could go in the Cikis Giris office.....filled in the form....handed over the 11.20tl stamps....got the computer printout in no time at all.....very pleasant policeman on duty....very easy to chat to. My wife couldn't believe how quick it all was after our experiences dealing with Police/Military offices in Middle East in recent times...On the equivalent of a Friday lunchtime in Ramadan just before Eid/Bayram, the chances of the correct official even being there would have been slim to say the least!

Pleased to hear you got your document easily. I've been there a few times (for in and outs and residency things) and every police officer there is always extremely friendly
