I make this plea every year.
Please run your a/c before the hot weather gets here (like it is now) and, if it doesn't work, you can get it fixed in good time.

Hi Vaughn.

Do you repair fridge freezers?

Would appreciate a call if you do.

Freezer section is working perfectly - fridge section not working at all.

Need a second opinion before giving it the lates rites.

It's been with me now for 7 years and it's not easy to let go of an old friend who may cost me £350 to replace.

Say a prayer please.

If the freezer section is working then the compressor and refrigerant loop seem to be ok. The fault could be the fan which brings cold air down from the freezer section and into the fridge to cool it down. There maybe a blockage on the air channels? the thermostat could be faulty?

Try turning the whole thing off ( providing you can empty the freezer and fridge compartments ) and turn it back on after a couple of hours, this will help if the airducts have been blocked with ice ( if the doors have been left open for a while )

A good repair man should be able to resurrect the appliance though.

Geoff.

Iceman or his Son will fix it, I'm sure - 0533 861 0329 or 0392 815 2195 or 0542 868 9066

...and good advice there from Geoff1131 too!

Incidentally, it pays NOT to leave the doors open any longer than stricly necessary in normal everyday useage, as the high humidity in the atmosphere condenses onto the cool interior, and soon causes a deadly ICE buidup

Thanks to you both for the great advice -I did turn it off for a couple of days but sad to say no improvement.

Having a second opinion this evening and it could well be the fan.

Is it a self defrosting, if so it could be the outlet for the water is blocked. Check the back of the fridge to make sure the water collection container is not full. Then poke some wire in the outlet in the fridge to check its not blocked and the water can flow away from inside the fridge.
