Does anyone know of any shops that sell solar PV equipment in the north, or of any companies from the south that would travel north to install systems.
Thanks
Aitchie

An
old post (getting on toward two years) which discusses solar power panels (click on the "renewable energy" link, top o page).
Kibsolar is one company that operates in the north.

yes, you can find some here in the north, approx 3-5 are good. or say, better ones.
a lot of chinese crap available as well, also in the south!
note: a solar installation which will be connected to the grid, certainly needs a permission to be operated.
a company from the south can not get such a permission and legal border crossing of equipment also is not possible.
we offer off-grid systems and solar pool pumps.
plus on-grid systems as net metering with all permissions.
how can we help you?
we deal with eg, victronenergy, rolls batteries, Fronius, ABB and SMA, Lorentz pumps and solarworld PV modules.

We used Cyprus Solar who are based here - they put right the crappy system that Eco Electric had installed - and did a very good job. They're also very reasonable price wise. If you need their number please PM me and I'll forward details on. the chap's name is Ibrahim and I honestly would recommend him

i have to agree
- ecofrees system are crap.... illegally installed and not according to KIBTEK rules. we also "put some systems right" from eco.
- Ibrahims work is ok, his english is very weak... but that can be solved.
i do not know what Ibrahim did for helendj (most probably "put right a grid connected net metering system" , but for new systems you certainly can find cheaper offers, whether this is advisable is another question.
if i want to find a disadvantage about him..... he offers "always the same", which may limit the possibilities for customers.
at the moment many offer "german PV modules".
check whether the panels offered are really made in germany, eg, on one panel is written "german brand", but are made in Asia.
the origin can not be seen on panel! check websites, you may want to purchase something in the value of a small 2nd hand car!
note: the most german made panels are only assembled in germany. the equipment for them come from Asia.
also: many offer PV systems, but have no clue and can not "turn a screwcriver", ( especially when it comes to solar pumping or off-grid systems).
thats what i meant with "approx 3-5 are good", meaning "having an understanding".
so, they "subcontract" everything: get advice how to realise your project, buy equipment from here or there, get someone to install (who buys the equipment from somewhere else..) and so on. or they just want to sell you that what they have in stock... chinese panels, chinese equipment, cheap, that it.
at the end you may get a system with "many responsibilities" or a system which does not work and if you have a problem, your guy (or woman.. but they are non existent in this business) does not know how to solve it... eg, quick analysis of systems, programming of equipment.. finding alternatives... and so on.
unfortnately we have been forced to tell some customers that the only thing we can save are the solar panels, all other stuff need to go to the ... dustbin.
Regards
