How will this affect us in Cyprus,has anybody from the armed forces here or academics been arrested?very worrying times.

4 TRNC soldiers caught up in the round up in Turkey but are innocent due to being told they were taking part in training exercise. This article appeared this morning on Igc news

I would imagine many of the soldiers were given this reason before they left their barracks and are guilty of nothing more than following orders. And before anyone trots out the nazi bit please do not.

I feel sorry for them, caught between a rock and a hard place.

I suppose that it will impact mainly on a tightening of any form of democracy and in particular human rights (what bit there was) and a tightening of the purse strings to the TRNC. Many TC's, particularly the young could look for jobs in Europe rather than risk living under such a dictatorship.

I wonder how this will affect TRNC in the long run, worrying times.

Cannot see how it can fail to affect us through the military and police there will be some people here he will be unhappy with.
