Tervetuloa Restaurant

What a lovely restaurant. Spacious shady courtyard area with good space between the tables. Excellent service from attentive and very professional waiting staff. Food was lovely - Large selection of meze dishes to start then wide choice of main courses. The speciality is cooked "on tiles". I had lamb on tile which was full of flavour, meltingly tender meat in a rich herby gravy - delicious. My husband had a kebab - excellent selection of once again very tender meats beautifully flavoured and cooked. All this followed by fresh fruit plate, coffee & brandy. Will definately return here, what a find.

Glad you had a better experience than us muffin. We were there Friday, meze very nice. Ordered skewered fish, came almost raw! Mixed kebap, absolutely awful,& my wife had calamari which made her ill! No accompaniments with main meal, just a bowl of overcooked chips! One had the liver, was ok & came with a salad garnish. We have used Tervetuloa on several occasions, these visits food was always consistently good. Must have had a bad night Friday. Yes we did speak with the owner.

What a shame that you had a bad meal Becker, did you return any of it and ask for fresh meals,Afet is very good in that sense, she will not quibble and replace any food you thought was under/over cooked.I have to say in the 10 years we've been going there never had a bad meal, perhaps we're just lucky. Also never get any veggies with the main course, maybe some rice but having just had a large plate of mezes we never feel the need for any more although sometimes we might save the salad and 1 or 2 mezes depending on our mains.Hope you give them another go.

Yes Muad-dib,as I stated in my post,on numerous occasions we have eaten there, always good. They did change the raw fish. Nevertheless it was a bad night. We will go there again. Considering there were only around a dozen diners,I dont think there is any excuse for under or overcooked food.

Well I am not a competitor. But I was there today at 1.30 and I suggest you see for your self. Take a walk around and look behind the scenes then take a glance inside.

Mr Lee, Tervetuloa is a hotel & restaurant but the restaurant is not open (as far as I know) during the day and it is most unlikely that one would have had a meal by 7:30 pm so I can't help wondering exactly what your experience was yesterday.
Afet (far from being obnoxious) strives to meet and talk with her customers (normally after having spent some considerable time in the kitchen) and has just received a second year running Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor, so frankly your disparaging remarks simply do not stack up. My wife & I are regular visitors to the Restaurant and we can only endorse the views of the many who find the restaurant food and ambiance to their liking.

Clearly you do not number among the many very satisfied customers of Tervetuloa Restaurant. As you were clearly not there yesterday to partake in their culinary delights one must assume that you were there on other business. Perhaps you are a self appointed restaurant critic? However, judging from the number of posts against your name, I would guess that you do enjoy "sounding off" - so probably you are either in the gutter press or entertainment business? Am I close?

I should have added that, if you had some business issue with the owner of Tervetuloa, you should deal with that separately rather than make spiteful and unfounded comments about her and her business under the pretence of offering unbiased advice to readers about the quality of her restaurant and attitude to customers (as you are clearly not one of them). Enough on this one I think?

Totally agree, if you have a problem, take it up with the person concerned, do not come on a public forum to try and ruin a persons business.

The last two posters, Pathetic comments not worth a reply. All I will say is obviously some people have very different standards.
(Moderator...Edited post. I have left this post so others may judge the poster and his comments themselves.
Two of the posters previous postings have been deleted as they broke the forum rules.
I have reinstated the thread as I believe the overwhelming feeling towards the restaurant is positive, and that is the kind of information the members want. As a previous poster has stated, if you have a problem deal with it with the business, not on an open forum.
Further comments of this nature will lead the poster to be banned.)

I was at the restaurant last night, and as usual the service was excellent, the food excellent and excellent value for money, the waiters helpful, the garden beautiful, and Afet, as ever, charming and wanting to please all who come. Obviously form time to time not everything is perfect, but Afet will always listen to any complaint and where required put it right.
O.K. Afet is a friend of mine, but I know the tremendous effort she has put in since her father died to make all his dreams come true. She is not yet finished, but certainly her father would be proud of what she has done.

Hi
I must just say that everytime we have been there we have never had a problem with food or service.
Afet is a lovely lady, and will always listen to anything you have to say
Hopefully will be visiting there again soon X

In the twenty odd years we have been visiting Tervetuloa we have never had a bad meal, the staff are always polite and friendly and Afet, as was her father before her, is a lovely lady and a perfect host. If anyone has a problem she will deal with it immediately.
If people have a grudge against somewhere for their own reasons then this forum will not satisfy their need to damage a business.

I totally agree with all the positive comments above. Tervetuloa is probably the restaurant we frequent the most. We have known Afet for years and consider her a friend as well as a perfect hostess. We always enjoy the food which is great value for money. Her Dad Arif was a lovely guy who passed away suddenly a few years back, I think the family did well to pick up the pieces and carry on the business.

Another bonus with Tervetuloa is that you don't have some wannabe *singer* belting out while you're eating.

Last night my friends and I had a lovely meal there. Really good food and excellent service as usual. I am certain that the negative comments of a few will not injure the reputation of this excellent restaurant.

Terevetuola was the first restaurant we tried here,9 years ago now and it's still a firm favourite for special occasions, taking visitors or when we just fancy a good meze . Arif would still be very proud of the food, service and ambience of his delightful restaurant

I also have to support all the positive replies to this restaurant, it has been one of our favourites for many years. Afet and her family have always tried to make their customers feel special. Some of the family we have taken there have special dietry requirements, and this have never posed a problem. They rightly deserve the awards which they have gained in the past.

This restaurant is in our top three of best dining experiences in the TRNC. Value for money and good food pleasantly served, always with a smile.
Yes, I have had a meal that maybe was not actually tip tops. I once had a pork chop that was very hard, but it was taken back and replaced. These things happen, but it was dealt with and an apology given. I have visited the restaurants and when you complain, they just look at you as if you are the guilty one!
We hate restaurants with loud music and/or wannabe singers, they are on our no, no list!
I appeal to everyone to visit Tervertulua. If something is not to your liking, speak to Afet.

I have not made any detrimental comments towards the food, the service or the staff., of this establishment. Non whatsoever. As the owner of a very successful Restaurant in the UK I would never do that if I had a problem in that area I would go directly to the manager/proprietor. Also I do not take any notice of Trip Advisor, because like a forum it can be fixed and several people have multiple Ids.
I am a normal human being with a breaking point and having my whole weekend totally messed up and being spoken to like Dog Pooh. So yes I lost my temper. I beleive if the truth was printed on here then people may understand.
Maybe she was having a bad day , so to you Madam my apologies how I phrased the comment, I should have said attitude.

Johnny Lee you have a track record here of abusing this forum in order to spread your malicious gossip and lies in the pursuit of your vindictive campaigns against others. You are the biggest single reason I choose to no longer post on this forum to any significant degree. I would not trust a word that you type, I would not attend a venue or event your are connected with, be it charitable or otherwise. In fact, as it appears some others will now also do, I will make a point of visiting Tervetuloa Restaurant for the first time, specifically because of your posts here about them. I do not know you other than from what I have seen of you here on this forum and from that you come across to me as what my mother would call a 'nasty piece of work'.

This topic is in danger of becoming highly personal. Many of the patrons enjoy the restaurant, food and staff - others do not. Let's leave it at that and move on.

I agree with the previous poster and I am locking the topic before it goes off the rails. Everyone, in my opinion, can gauge the general feelings towards the restaurant, as well as the feelings of Mr Lee and can judge for themselves.
