Alternatives to Picassa
Now that Picassa is to disappear, can anyone recommend a new system for storing & downloading digital photos on to a laptop. One that is simple to use.

Picasa won't disappear unless you delete it. They plan to replace it with their own app and concentrate on one image organiser rather than two.

Re: Alternatives to Picassa
I had problems with my laptop and had a new hard drive fitted. I previously had Picasa but when I tried to download it onto my new system was redirected to the new site. Was told to log in with previous details and all my pics would be there. Only pics up to 2014 were there and lost any that I had not backed up to my external hard drive. Make sure your photos on Picasa are on the web based bit. (Don't know how you do that by the way, I thought they all were stored on the web!) Cannot find any way on the Google photos site to contact for help either.

Hi Meldy Flash Alec. I am sorry to learn that you have lost some photos, very annoying & upsetting. I do not find Picassa user friendly, so I am trying to find an alternative.

I use Flickr back-up. There's a download you can install on your computer, I think you do have to pay a bit for extended usage, but it automatically uploads any photos that are loaded onto your hard disk. works a treat. The other alternative is Google photos which also will automatically upload any images loaded to your hard disk.
Do your best to grow old disgracefully.
