I think that there is a 50% surcharge if you are late

Our first one next month since initial import. Where is the best place to go for mot and emissions west side girne or do I need to go back to lefkosia.

The MOT must be done at the Police Garage - the one in Girne is near the Wednesday Market / Baris Park.

Most garages such as Erderner will give the vehicle a pre-MOT check and clean up and take it for its MOT if you don't want to do it yourself.

Emissions test, well, I don't think that there's much difference, - any garage with the testing gear, really. If you decide to pay a garage to do the whole thing, then they would sort the emissions test as well.

For convenience, I usually use the emissions tester at the Alpet Garage on the left-hand side of the road into Girne coming from Alsancak.

Need MOT and tax which comes first, do we need MOT to get car taxed or tax to get car MOT got emissions and insurance?

MOT first, without it no TAX! You have a month from the date of your tax expiry to get new tax without a fine, with MOT if you don't do it in the time frame allowed you will pay a fine of 50% of the cost of the MOT. Take your new emissions to the tax office and pay for your MOT then make sure your car is clean and go to the MOT place and have it done. From there back to the tax office to get your new tax. OK?

You need to go to the tax office to pay for your MOT, then go to the Police Garage with the receipt, your old MOT certificate and your emissions test result so that they can 'kick the tyres' and issue your new MOT certificate, then back to the tax office to get your Tax disc

Did ours today. Got the emissions test at Mert Garage in Aslancak (near Sams Place/opposite Gepaz) cost 24.5TL. The MOsT consisted of the man looking at the number plates (we needed new ones) and that was it. Didn't even look under the bonnet!

I did it last week in the following order:

1. I went to garage first for exhaust test - 25TL (erdener garage in ozankoy).
2. Went to tax office to pay the MOT tax (152.5TL)
3. Went to the police garage (near wednesday market).

Important, don't forget to take previous MOT, original logbook and emissions test to the tax office. If you can't find previous MOT, they will charge you for the previous three years and a fine.

Please also note, you single women drivers, the chap at Mert tried to get me to have an oil change and new filter when I went for the emissions test, although he did give up when I mentioned that the car had just had a full service at the Opal garage in Lefkosa!
