Mains water in Ozankoy

Anyone else in Ozankoy not had mains water since Wednesday? I realise there is major shortage but this is the first time it has not been on every other day. Last time this happened they discovered there was a break in the pipe so I am concerned that if this is the case water may be being wasted.

Does anyone know what's going on with the supply from Turkey?

I'm hearing that Esentepe will not be supplied until December/ January.

No one appears to have any proper information or reasons for the delay!

same in Karakum seems like they are using it like a weapon to get the price they want the dam is full

Apparently a pump has broken in Ozankoy which is why the water supply is not operational.

Is the mains water supplied from the new dam in Ozankoy and Catalkoy

No I do not think the water is being distributed from the dam yet.

10 days ago the Catalkoy beli told me the Turkey water will be here in three weeks but they have a broken pump to fix first - seems like all the pumps will remain bust until they can force the Government to take away the water price cap!

H2O is a necessity of life, ergo in my view, the Government should control it, not thieving, inefficient, belediyes. One price for all via a centralised organisation (albeit privatised if necessary). Electricity and fuel costs are centralised and it works well.

Ozankoy water, more often off than on. OK there is a water shortage and strict management is necessary but this is getting ridiculous!

After 4 days without we are now running a little low, agree totally with tomsteel, this should be controlled by a central agency (private preferred) such as the TRNC Water Authority who could of course charge a standard rate for all rather than allowing individual councils to decide what to charge and then not have enough funds to repair any subsequent faults.

The entire water supply is completely bizarre!

The dam appears to be almost full and the government are saying the water is now being distributed across the Island and yet in many areas there appear to be a drastic shortage .

I suspect it's all down to money and the delays will continue until the money is available to sort it all out.

I think the government should step in quickly ....ha ha !

Same here. It's been 5 days & our tanks are dry now. Spoke to Zoe's office yesterday and they assured me water would be back on yesterday afternoon!!! It's getting beyond a joke. We are laying out a lot of money for tankers to come and fill us up but how much longer can this go on for? Plus are water bills are never any cheaper due to lack of the good old H2o.

Yes good point.

Some visitors staying in holiday lets in the Esenepe area are having to move out and are being moved to the local hotels through lack of water.

But never mind the new dam is almost full.

You could'nt make it up.

I did hear that it was the large hotels using all the water leaving very little for everyone else, presumably they do not pay their bills either.

Have one of those fancy meters where you need to put credit on the caRd for it to work. Ran out of credit, meter closed. When the water was turned on I got nothing tank now empty. Off to sort the card out and see what's happening with the water.

The dam is nowhere near full, I would guess about half full. It is being said that there is a problem with the wall and cracks are appearing. It is suggested that these are settlement cracks and I would think that it is sensible to fill to a level then stop to see if all is well before adding more water otherwise the village below could be swept away if the wall bursts.

Promised by girl in Zoe's office that water will be back on at 10 am tomorrow (wednesday). As for me having an empty tank, tough!

Dams cannot be full, half full or anything full. They prevent water from flowing. Reservoirs can be gauged by the amount of water they hold, but not dams. Enjoy!
