Hi all,

Hope there is someone out there who can help. We have a fairly new laptop which we use to transfer tv programmes to our TV. Unfortunately
when we transfer them to the TV they are only shown in the size of the laptop screen. We have tried several ways to enlarge the picture but nothing seems to work. The laptop is a Lenova and it is on windows 10.

hdmi cable gives full screen, if you use the blue moniter cable only a small screen

We are using a HDMI cable so that cannot be the problem.

Hi the butler, we also use hdmi cable but on our remote for the TV there is a button called 'Aspect' (a square with four arrows pointing north,south,east,west) if we press that it gives you options for the size resolution - we usually select zoom 2 and it brings the picture full screen. Just a thought may work for you too! Mrs Mac

I had the same problem when I got new laptop.Go to the bottom right of laptop screen and access settings. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the suggestions, unfortunately none of them have worked. It is a problem but will just have to accept
that nothing can be done.

Have you tries the display settings on the Laptop?

Firstly you need to determine whether the issue is caused by the laptop or by the TV.

To do that, I would suggest that you take the laptop and hdmi lead, and connect them to another TV - perhaps a friend's or neighbour's if you don't have another one yourself.

If you find that the picture on this second TV is also too small, then you can focus your attention on the laptop, and if the picture on the second TV is the correct size, then you can obviously concentrate on your TV.

Come back after you've tried that...

I think that there is a good possibility that you are correct.

However a variety of advice has been given so far, - and all of it perfectly feasible, I will say, - although essentially random in nature.

I think that it is time (in the absence of a trained/experienced person on site!) to undertake a more systematic approach to diagnosing the issue...

If you can crack this you will not need a HDMI Cable. This is how we watch Youtube via our telly.
