North to Istanbul

Having just driven here, I am a bit concerned about the very long uphill/mountain road from Silifke to Mut. Parts of it also have poor quality surfaces.
Has anyone else driven a less steep route that would be easier for my Morris - is via Adana/E90 any better?????
