Does anybody know if the age of a car has any reductions on car tax. Say age of car 12 years and first registered in trnc 10 years ago.

It's the date first registered in TRNC that counts - over 10 years, and you get a discount - provided that you don't have any speeding or other traffic offences (as far as I know!).

Keith, As far as I know there is a 5% discount after 5 years and a 10% discount after 10 years. Of course as the tax goes up every year it makes not a lot of difference but still, its worth having! I have only got another year to wait on my 12 year old car before it gets to 10???

Pete, did you own it when it was 10? I ask because I am aware that there is a discount every 5 years but I don't know when that expires - in the case of a Renault 9 it probably never does and a some stage the Tax Office would have to start paying you to keep it on the road - lol.

No I didn't own that car when it was 10, but my other car reduced at 10 years so maybe you are right with the every 5 year thing
