Yes. You can now download only using the VPN.
We now can't get any sound through the TV when the i pad is connected to it but the sound on the i pad itself plays when not connected.
The problem is only with i player all film on channels working as normal.

That's because from today in UK you need a TV licence for iPlayer whether you are watching it live or in catch up mode.

Also having same problem as original post . I have always used MM. VPN to download from iplayer to iPad but today can't get past 2-3 % . Understand new rules on licence but I am not being asked anything . Anyone know if it's just slow speeds today or whether I need to do something else ?

If you suspect slow connection speed, check it on the MM website, and 'power cycle' the dish and your router if necessary. I'm not having any difficulty with BBC iPlayer, but I don't have an iPad and I'm using kodi, so if you have another device that you can try as well, then that's another option.

Have just gone through all equipment and systematically said "YES" to the question, have you go a TV Licence and now have iPlayer. (We have VPN through MM) The only thing I have a problem with at the moment is Amazon Kindle Fire, but will have another fiddle around later this evening. Am determined to get around the problem.

My VPN is Astrill which I am told is the best one I was using others but I could not get through some security systems with them hence me going to Astrill.

Scrap the last message,ITV now un watchable, taken me 15 minutes to get this page loaded, suppose that means another phone call to MM.

Most frustrating!
If you do start to experience problems, do a speed test, if it's slow, power everything off including the router and the roof aerial, and wait for a couple of minutes before trying it again.
If that hasnt fixed it, call MM right away - they're sat there twiddling their thumbs, with nothing else to do, just waiting for you to ring
If you can't get through, it probably means that there is a general issue, and everyone else is ringing as well, in which case, just log your fault report on the MM website and put a dvd on
