I recently made the journey overland to central France with 3 dogs, and I can't recommend them enough.

Although long, the journey is a much cheaper alternative if you have several pets since Turkish Airlines have changed their rules about numbers that can be transported per flight (to Europe anyway when they have to be accompanied), as well as their prices.

Moreover the animals yrave as pets, not cargo, so do not travel in cages. My 3 mutts spent the journey in a people carrier in their own beds.

There were overnight stops at hotels that allowed pets.

The driver is experienced and attentive, and was very good with my dogs.

Thank you for the information. I will certainly use them when the time comes. I love the fact they can relax in their own beds and not be stressed. Big plus is the cost as well.

Thanks for that. Someone was asking me today about it. Might help if you could give an idea of total cost. Van hire, petrol, overnight sotps, toll charges etc.

I for one owuld use that option. But not yet ready to travel. I am sure there are many who owuld prefer this mode of transport.

That was me Marion. I have spoken to Fatma and she has given me lots of information. A very helpful lady. I am particularly keen to go this way so that I can be with my two lads the whole time. They will be more settled and so will I, rather than worrying between dropping them off for a flight and then waiting at the other end. A friends dog was held up at Istanbul for 3 days and that must have been so stressful for the dog, never mind him.

Marion the cost of the trip was all inclusive other than for the two overnight stops which were very cheao. The first hotel in Turkey was 45 TL and the second stop in Serbia was 20 euros. They were basic but very clean, and they accepted pets.

Wow. That is fantastic. Hope hire it can afford to repeat that for others. Wish I was leaving -I could afford that and my n animals wouldlove it.

Just to add to the overall cost if you cross the channel, which Fatma didn't, there is a fee of 45euros duty to pay per dog. In the grand scheme of things it's not a lot so definitely a cost effective way to go. I have been told the route is also very scenic and anybody doing it should take a camera. I am imagining selfies in several countries with the boys? Can't wait.

fatouche - if i may ask some questions - how much it was cost total to France ? Are they big or small doggys ? How long was your journey in total ? Do you know if they will take you to England also ?

They took my friend, her dog & some household contents to UK a few months ago which was very successful.
They also brought a table & mirror from UK for me a couple of weeks ago at a very reasonable cost, I was amazed at the speed it arrived it was collected in Colchester on a Sunday tea time & was in Cyprus for me to collect by Friday morning.
