the government brokered a deal for them to pay off the dairy farmers they owed, many of whom were going under because koop hadnt paid them in ages, but it meant they had to raise prices. I would expect the same from some other producers as well, though the rise might be temporary

Just been to LocalMar and Mera is still 1.75tlm they did not have koop.

It is totally illogical to increase the price of any product by so much when there ar obviously alternatives. But then what is the logic of opening a butcher shop next to an existing one with a long standing customer base, or a doner cafe next to one already operating etc!!!!!!

Why would anyone pay even 1.95tl for Koop milk when fresh milk is only 1.95tl? As for paying 2.55!!!!!

This must be the only country where beer is cheaper than milk.

Koop milk or (Co-operative) has been more expensive that Mera (Lemar brand) and 1 other brand, the name of which I can't remember, for months and months now. Whether Mera is sold as a "loss leader" I don't know and perhaps the Koop milk is the realistic price? Once upon a time a few years back I always used to buy Koop i.e. help local co-operative produces, but not any longer I'm afraid.
