Border crossing near Yeşilirmak.

We're going to The Polis/Latsi area in the south. I know the Guzelyurt crossing but is it possible to go through the border crossing just past Yeşilirmak? It doesn't mention this crossing on the border crossing information on Kibkom. It just looks such a nice drive. I want to check as we don't want to drive there and then have to come all the way back to Bostaniçi crossing.

CROSSING THE GREEN LINE
http://www.roughguides.com/destinations ... reen-line/
With seven crossing points now open across the Green Line – the de facto border separating the northern and southern sectors of Cyprus – visitors can stay in the south and cross to the north as often as they like. It’s not yet quite as straightforward the other way around (cars rented in the north, for example, are not allowed to cross to the south), but things appear to become more relaxed each year. Visitors accustomed to heavily signposted checkpoints elsewhere in the world will be surprised at how anonymous these Cypriot ones are – on both sides of the Green Line. If you’re not careful, you can find yourself stumped as to how to get back so be sure to take a note of landmarks and directions and take a map (preferably two, owing to the different place names used either side of the line). The crossing points (west to east) are:
Limnitis/Yesilirmak
The most recent (and prettiest), crossing, in the hills above Kato Pyrgos. This represents the westernmost part of the TRNC (apart from the militarized Kokkina Enclave). The best crossing for visiting the Palace of Vouni and Soli from the west.
Astromeritis/Zodhia
The best crossing for Morphou/Güzelyurt from the main Lefkosia–Troodos road. Cars only.
Agios Dometios/Metehan
The closest vehicle crossing point to Lefkosia, ideal for Kerynia and the north coast.
Ledra Palace, Lefkosia
Pedestrians only, just outside the Venetian walls on the western side of the city.
Ledra Street, Lefkosia
Pedestrians only. At the top of south Nicosia’s main shopping street, and therefore the best for exploring north Nicosia.
Pyla/Beyarmudu
Best place to cross into the north from Larnaka.
Strovilia
The easternmost crossing point, and the most convenient for visiting Gazimağusa (Famagusta) from Agia Napa, Paralimni and Deryneia.
Hope this helps

Have used this border crossing twice in the last month.
No problems at all. Very quiet, no queues.
Lovely drive from Latchi/Polis or vice versa thro the hills and then down to the coast. Again roads quiet.

WOW! we fly out to TRNC midnight and hopefully all being well will be in TRNC tomorrow morning. I will be staying in our villa in Alagadi which I bought and had renovated last year for the first time. This forum has been very informative and beneficial for me and I would like to thank everybody for all their help i.e with all colleagues on the forum with their advice and recommendations.
The last few things I need doing now is to purchase stone made table and chairs for outside; fridge/freezer; washing machine(going to arcelik). When and if you next go to Yesilirmak FRONTALMAN please mention me and ask for a discount!

Certainly will, but as we were only charged 5TL for a nescafe and a diet coke that would be difficult! How's that for a plug! Hope all goes well for you, by the way.

Is there insurance for the South available at Yesilirmak? Or do we have to do the Metahan cross first?

Thanks everyone for your helpful posts. We drove over that crossing last Sunday to go to Polis and what a charming drive it was too. I did post earlier regarding this but think it was deleted.
I did see an insurance office at the border when we crossed but not sure if you can do first time insurance here, probably just renewals.

Denizismail, can you ask your sister to find out the answer to this question from waddo please,"Is there insurance for the South available at Yesilirmak? Or do we have to do the Metahan cross first?" When you have an answer, could you then post it for us all Thanks in advance.
Received reply from my sister:
Hi abi,
For insurance you can do it from yesilirmak, but for road tax you have to get it from Lefkosa, so it is better to do both in Lefkosa.

Thanks. Annual RoC road tax from Lefkosa, but can insure car as and when needed from Yesilirmak. Great news.

Perhaps this:
"non TCs not allowed to drive across green line" will save you a trip altogether!

Bodes well for the peace talks if this is correct.
