When I call 0548 mobile numbers in TRNC from overseas on Skype, a voice message says the call is blocked because it is from an unknown number.

However, when I call 0533 mobile numbers on Skype, I get through fine.

For example, I cannot call Multimax on Skype because Multimax have an 0548 number. Multimax emailed me saying my call was blocked 'because it was to a mobile number'. But 0533 numbers are mobiles as well, so this makes no sense!

Has anyone else had this problem? Can you enlighten me? Is there a work-around? Thanks!

These two numbers are from diffent servers, 0533 is Turksel and 0548 is Telsim, this could be your problem.

Have you tried Skype to Go? You can set up numbers to call from your landline or UK mobile, we use it and can call a friend on 0548 number. You can set it up by going into your Skype account.

Aljanyoung: I tried to set up Skype to Go but, when I entered a number beginning with +90 for Turkey, their website said that 'Turkey is not a supported country/region at this time'! So I don't know how you managed it?

Karmels: Yes, Telsim and Turkcell are different operators, but I still don't understand why Telsim blocks ordinary Skype calls while Turkcell permits them.

Try their land-line number 90 392 229 0051 fax and ask them to call you....
