So I'm trying to send someone a PM but it's been sat in my out box and no matter what I try it doesn't want to move to send mail. What am i missing?

Not too sure. but I think PMs are different from 'normal' emails, in that as soon as you press 'Send' in emails, they immediately go to the 'sent' box even though they take a (variable) while to reach the target.
PMs however stay in your outbox until the target 'accepts' them - i.e. emails are pushed, while PMs are pulled.....
So it depends on how soon the target notices (at the top of the page) that there is a PM for him/her.....

Thanks for that. Thought there would be a sensible explanation.

Thinking about it, in one way it's an advantage - you know that a PM has been received/read or not, and (to a degree) when; emails you don't know whether they have ever been opened/read or just deleted, although it was possible (may still be) to add an 'acknowledgement' tag to them....

It still is, and there is a service called Bananatag (Google it!) which works with various web based and email clients - you get 5 tagged emails per day, after that you can pay to get more. There are other systems as well.
