It's pretty straight forward. We usually cross at Beyamudu but if you have no police certificate or insurance you are best crossing at Metahan, as I am not sure you can get the police certificate at Beyamudu. Others may know if you can.
If you can cross at Beyamudu follow the signs for the motorway and follow the signs to Ayia Napa and Paralimni, Protaras will also appear on the signs.
If you can't get the police certificate at Beyamudu cross at Metahan then;
Follow the signs to Larnaca and join the motorway at the roundabout with coloured balls on it. At the end of the motorway at the roundabout where you would turn right to go to Larnaca airport, turn left and follow the signs for Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Protaras.

You must go via Metehan if it is your first time. You will need to have your passport, British driving licence and your original car log book. Once you have gone through the Greek passport control you will need to park up and walk back to the booth next to where the Greek Cypriot police checked your passport. Present your documents and once they have issued the certificate take it and 25 Euro to one of the insurance booths, also give them all the driving licences of the individuals you wish to be insured. If you do this the first time then every time you renew with the same company they will automatically be covered (the individuals don't need to be there, just their licences). This is quite useful if you want someone to use your car to take you/pick you up from Larnaca airport.

Be aware that the booth issuing the certificates is open from about 7.30am until 2.30pm only on weekdays and not at weekends nor on ROC public holidays.

You can get your police certificate and insurance at the Fagusta border now in the office opposite the check point, been able to for over a year now.

Anyone with a touch screen mobile phone should install "Maps.me"!!! It is a free application and it works offline - so no need for an internet connection once you have downloaded it. I have it on my tablet and on my phone and it works perfectly. Install the program, choose the maps you wish to keep on your device, put in your start location and your end location and that's it! It even has good old "Bitchin Betty" voice directions so you can just drive and listen and co-operate (or deliberately take wrong turns just to annoy her). Have had it now for over a year and it has never let me down.

Just to point out the most important part - its free!!!!!!

Never ask for directions again and become the guru that can tell anyone where to go - I know Keith, I know!!!!

I certainly did not know this? Insurance yes, but "MOT/Tax" at an SBA crossing is a surprise.

I was wondering that too. The Beyamudu crossing is not what I call the Famagusta crossing.
Could DieHard clarify which crossing he means please.

There are two TRNC/SBA crossing points. One at Beyamudu/Pergamos and the other is at Ayios Nikolaos/Strovilia or 'Black Knight' colloquially. This is the Famagusta crossing point where DieHard has stated you can get the annual RoC vehicle certificate. It is reached from the roundabout leading into the port area, but travelling west on the On Bes Augustos Blv. Google Map clearly shows the crossing.
