Both of mine are the above, but I can't remember seeing any card readers with this facility. Has anywhere upgraded yet do you know?

There must be someone out there who has these upgraded bits of plastic. Seems to me that all Banks in UK are gradually issuing them now.

We both have them but have never used them North or South as contacless credit cards! I do not think that the facility exists here as yet.

I have only used them in uk where they are great on London transport, no need to buy an oyster card as you get the same discount.

I don't think they have quite arrived in the 21st century yet. When you still sign across a stamp in the bank, something we stopped 40 years ago when I worked in one.Let alone contactless cards.

Mine has been used in IKEA, Debenhams and Starbucks in the south.

As they are only to values of up to 30GBP, I think its unlikely it will ever come into use at Debenhams. The day I spend less than 30 will be a miracle!!

I used it in the Debenhams restaurant at Engomi and Strovolos.

Sophie, regardless of whether you can use them as 'contactless, you do realise that you can still use them in the normal manner, don't you?

Doh. Honestly Keith, I may be a bit long in the tooth, but Im not totally nuts!! I was more interested to know if I was to show a card with the icon on, whether it would be met with a blank look and I suspect that is the case. Suppose that means local banks are not issuing them to customers either, for use elsewhere other than KKTC. I was watching people being interviewed in streets of London about 2 weeks ago, and they were being asked how much actually cash they had on them, very little indeed in most cases. Back in the studio, someone sitting on the sofa admitted she never had more than a fiver on her.

Sophie, I did think that it was likely that you knew, but I couldn't rest without posing the question - just in case!

Erm, don't want to appear totally dumb, but what is a contactless debit or credit card?

The card doesn't need to be inserted / swiped just held near the reader for the information to be taken from the card.
