Do any of you ladies have a 6 monthly injection of prolia? (its an alternative to a weekly Alendronic acid tablet for osteoporosis ) if so where do you get it done and how much does it cost you? Not available on NHS here in UK. Thanks

Would be interested in this injection. Not heard about it before, but I take two tablets a day and once a week the alendronic with water, stand for 30 mins , nothing to eat or drink in that time.

I will ask at the Near East clinic when I am over in December. At the moment I m taking calcium daily and alendrotnic acid weekly same routine. My daughter in law who is a nurse in Australia highly recommends it. Alendronic acid can be a nasty medication, hey ho, needs must. will let you know if I find anything out

My mother, who is 87 years and lives here in UK has been receiving Denusab injections in her stomach and to date has had 4. The last 2 next year. She receives it at the Ambulatory Care Unit of our local hospital as her General Practitioner cannot do it.

When I take Mum to the hospital she has a blood test first and we have to sit and wait for about an hour for the result to come back before injection is given. We have been about a week before for the blood test and the appointment for the injection is within 2 weeks after. There is a time limit from the blood test to the injection.

My mother has had 2 hips ops and 2 knee ops. The Denusab injection was suggested. after she had a fall outside of the home, by a Consultant and so far has seen the Consultant again as a routine follow up as to how she is getting on.

Mum is now going to attend an appointment on 28th November due to her stomach swelling and we have no idea whether, at the moment, this has anything to do with the injection. Due to her age it could be anything.

Personally I don't think this injection should be taken lightly, as Groucho has posted there are quite a few factors to be taken into consider\tion.

I have Denosumab injection once a month in my arm at my local hospital and have been for some time.
So far, no side effects and no problems with the injection site.
It is apparently a very efficient medication.
