Obtaining citizenship for partners of TRNC citizens.

Has anyone out there recently gained citizenship ( who is married or partner of a TRNC citizen).
This only applies to spouses of citizens.
I understand that the laws have recently changed and it is no longer necessary for men over the age of 50 to complete National Service here. I have heard that a letter has to be obtained from the MOD inWhitehall stating that National service is no longer compulsary in the UK.
This letter has to be stamped and signed by the TRNC consulate in London and a £25 stamp fee paid, & to verify that the letter is genuine. I am looking for someone who has recently completed this process, especially someone who managed to complete the process without returning to the UK.
My visa is due for renewal but I am not planning on returning to the UK this year.
