To avoid taking the "Neglected " topic further off topic:
1. I am not afraid of admitting when I make a mistake or an error of judgement and saying I am sorry and I think I owe Silver Fox an apology.
He (she?) warned against using memories which might be distressing for Turkish Cypriots who suffered in those times. At that stage along with others I rather deprecated his suggestion, but I ,reaching the stage where my own reminiscences are approaching the dreadful time of Christmas 1963. I have been thinking it through more thoroughly and realising how carefully it needs handling. While I still think that the memories of non-Cypriot residents of the Island could be of invaluable benefit to international understanding of the problems , I now think that in order to avoid distress or offence to various people, or indeed breaking laws or attracting aggression, publicity should only be done with the guidance and advice of wise and experienced Agents/Editors/Publisher,. if indeed such there be, and a media of impeccable integrity that I can really trust. Fortunately I do no think any harm has been done so far as the memoirs are of a mainly personal and non-political nature , but I do not consider Kibcom as it exists at this point in time to be a suitable means of communication for this topic and hence my apologies Silver Fox for not taking you seriously enough.
2, I note that, in a Moderators revival of the old thread, a post of mine has been copied or transferred from the "Neglected" thread - unfortunately this was one of a sequence of three messages (for technical reasons)nd on its own benefits no one nor throws any light on the situation. That my posts can disappear inexplicably or be moved about by a moderator, without my knowledge, let alone consent, and distorting the sense of my argument and for no apparent logical reason, can only serve to increase my unease.
The End
3. However as far as the "neglected" thread is concerned I see no reason to delete it - too many threads are removed because of lack of respect for a person's right to hold a different opinion. The subject matter that went off topic has moved on, and no doubt the thread will die a natural death with some of us never getting to see the Ozankoy Lake!

Well, I can't say that I've ever seen any instances of this, although I have seen posts and threads removed because they blatantly contravened forum rules!RR wrote: ...too many threads are removed because of lack of respect for a person's right to hold a different opinion
Would you care to give examples?
...or else retract?

Neither Keith because it never crossed my mind to record examples - the first two or three I wrote off as occasional not terribly important mild misjudgements and by the time I realised they were increasing I was too involved in my own health and financial problems to do anything about it = and I still am but that does not mean I have to like it. Others have commented also perhaps they can give you examples if you have noted noticed yourself and chose not to believe me!

RR - You are entitled to your opinion but despite what you may think threads are not removed as a result of a lack of respect for a persons right to hold a different opinion. They are edited or removed because they contravene the forum rules.
If members do not follow or adhere to the forum rules then moderators will step in and moderate. We are however not on the forum all the time, we may miss things and because we have a life we may take time to reply or action something. We are not by any means perfect.
If you have specific examples of your threads being removed, please feel free to share these and contact any moderator or the forum owner off line and raise your concerns. Continually making off the cuff accusations about missing posts, removal of threads, the way the forum operates, threads you don't like, posters you don't like, lack of moderator action or to much moderation is not helpful. Personally I am having difficulty following it all as they are spread across numerous topics.
The format and workings of this forum are very similar to many others and it works. It will never be perfect and occasionally glitches happen. Sometimes a post when submitted does not get onto the forum. For this reason we do recommend you save the post before submitting, especially if it is a long post and you have taken time to type up. The forum will not please everyone but it's not about an individual, it is what works for the majority.
All the moderators try to moderate fairly and in the main the forum operates well with little intervention. Constructive criticism or suggestions are happily accepted. The forum owner has over the years implemented a number of suggestions, however some cannot be carried out often for technical reasons. Changes to the forum do require time and money to pull together, test and then implement. The forum has been going for a good few years with membership and advertising growing so the owner must be getting it right.
Continued bad mouthing of the forum is to be honest a bit tiresome. If you are that dissatisfied there is always the option to not log in.
To avoid further confusion this thread is now locked.
