Anders Behring Breivik, who carried out bomb and gun attacks in Norway last year which left 77 people dead, pleads not guilty on the first day of his trial.
If the court decides he is criminally insane, he will be committed to psychiatric care; if he is judged to be mentally stable, he will be jailed.

On the one hand you could say that no one in their right mind would do what he did. So criminally insane?

Or perfectly aware of what he was doing, for whatever reason, and looking for the soft option?

Yes you are right, difficult to respond to that one... it's tough. Either way, I think he should be locked up for a very very very long time.

I have been following the case. I am not a professional, but to my mind the man is a fanatical rascist.

I totally agree with the opinion of the lay judge who was asked to step down.

I do not support the death penalty and in this case any chance of him being declared a Martyr by some future rascist fanatics must be denied. Incarceration in a secure mental institution would be my choice thus keeping him isolated from the general population for the rest of his life.

He will be declared a martyr whether the death penalty is evoked or not.....any one who murders on this scale is obviosly insane.He is irrelevent,he is evil (as all nazis are) ,he should be removed from this earth immediantly,there is billions of us,the removel of this 1 nontity will do nothing but good......77 dead ..ask there opinion in your next life
