We have applied to renew residency, but it wont be ready to pick up in Lefkosia for another 2 weeks and our current residency has just expired

Does anybody know if we will have any problems at the border if we go to shop in the South before then?

When I went to the UK a couple of weeks ago I didn't realise that my residency had run out and got fined 85tl for every day that I was in the TRNC past my expiry date, don't know if it's the same if you have started the renewal process however I don't think I would chance it.

I have always been informed to go out the day my permit expired and come in the next day to ensure I have a valid visa that I may travel so we always go at 23:50 and come back the following day. With having elderly parents I have always wanted to be safe than sorry. I know a friend got fined one day when she went the following day. The strange part is you have 90 days to renew but some say you must stay in the country.

It cost us 650tl don't go if your residency has run out. We spoke to immigration as we were told by the police if you have re applied it's ok!!!

Immigration said do not trust the police they don't know anything only speak to us at immigration re the rules.

Probably they are under 60 and have to wait for the blood test results and paperwork to reach lefkosia

If you are over 60 you don't need one. I double checked with the helpful lady at immigration and her words were 'over 60 don't waste your money you don't need anything'

For Info; Extract from Cyprus scene.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE WHO WILL BE ABSENT FROM THE TRNC AT THE TIME THEIR RESIDENCY IS DUE, MUST VISIT IMMIGRATION IN LEFKOSA BEFORE LEAVING THE COUNTRY AND ADVISE THEM OF LIKELY TIME THEY WILL BE AWAY, SO THAT THE AUTHORITIES CAN MAKE A SYSTEM ENTRY TO THAT EFFECT.
