Just for information for anyone returning back to UK or those that have cars kept in UK or their family and friends as it seems to have been kept quiet.
As from the 1st April 2017 will see changes to Vehicle Excise Duty. This will be based on the Vehicles emissions and list price. There is a 3 tier band with zero emission vehicles exempt from VED.

But note (from the gov site) -
This measure reforms Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) for cars first registered from 1 April 2017 onwards........... All cars first registered before 1 April 2017 will remain in the current VED system, which will not change.....
