Currency exchange East side

I went into the "Moon Star" to exchange some sterling for Turkish lira. I was nut given a receipt with the money to check it so asked for it. It was then that I was given another 100tl as there was a shortfall. I thought it suspicious but the following day I heard someone on the next table to me in a bar telling the same story as it had happened to them.

We called in there in December and the same happened to us.
Always used to getting a receipt so when we exchanged £500 with no receipt I did a quick calculation on my phone and we were 100 TL short ...... BEWARE ..... Won't be using them again.

Had no problem with them so far and have used them since they opened. They can be a little low on the exchange rate from time to time and I always check their rates first. I find the exchange just opposite Cratos to be very good!!

Went into the same Exchange Bureau on Wednesday morning to change a few £s to Euros (double exchange) and having a rough idea of how many Euros I should get was somewhat bemused by their exchange rate (no receipts given). I queried this and suddenly received the 2 receipts due, plus an additional 15 Euros.
Will steer well clear in future as the man running the show clearly has problems with numbers !!

Having read these reports and regardless of my own experience, I think this money exchange shop is now off my list. The guy has no problems with numbers but seems to have problems with the glue and his fingers - lol. Many thanks for the posts.

The exchange opposite the Cratos Hotel is excellent, always good service and a receipt from the lovely married couple who run it.

i went into ''MOONSTAR'' the other day with a buddy of mine, nice fella gave me a really good rate, had no trouble with my receipt or cash. definitely going there again, save me the trouble of going into town. recommended.

this post is about ''MOONSTAR'' in catalkoy right? i have been going there since its been open and i have not had any trouble so far, the only ''problem'' which was not a big deal was that the young man gave me back too much change which he called me back to explain the simple mistake he had done.

other then that im very happy with the exchange office, after reading the forums here maybe the lad counted the amount wrong or counted too quick. im sure he will learn not to make silly mistakes like that again.

It's often 5 or more kuruş difference to the pound, so if you're changing £2000 - as some people do every month, then it adds up to 100 TL or so...

Well worth shopping around unless you've got money to throw away!

That's exactly what we do....draw £ from Credit West and go and change a grand at the exchange bureau thus getting about 80tl extra. Have always used Moonstar, but never again.
