Learning to drive in the TRNC

I'm hoping to learn to drive in the TRNC (I don't have a UK licence, I did take lessons there, but moved here before I could take the test).

I've found a driving school, and have successfully applied for a provisional licence, but am hitting a snag.

The driving school are asking for to see a residency permit. I did get one when I came out here as I was 59, but I'm now 60 so don't need to apply for one anymore. The driving licence office only asked to see my passport and letter from the Mukhtar confirming residence before accepting my application, but the driving school keep asking for the 'pink card# from immigration.

Is the driving school just uninformed, or is there a problem?

tell them to call the office in Lefkosa that issues licences. We did and no problem. If your west side go to Sammy he has a driving school in Alsancak by the school he knows you don't need it.

The pink card? If you mean the pink book then that is simply proof of your address and you will have received one of those when you first did your residency.

Thanks gilly123, unfortunately we're in the east of the island (Famagusta/Iskele). Anyone know a driving scholl in that area where there is someone that speaks OK English?
