This week’s (tongue in cheek) news!

The mad March hare has really taken off this week!
Most interested in the 27km long road widening project from Girne to Degirmenlik (presumably from the Pia Bella roundabout along the existing route past Lemar, China Bazaar, Erdener, Lemar (again), Sah, Supreme, Happy Valley, past the Esentepe turning and onwards across the mountains down to the roundabout by Tiga Trading? Starting in June this year - why not, it's prime tourist time - but doing it in two phases with the first phase a 9km section that will have traffic backed up through all the villages between Tatlisu and Karakum - lol.
I just love progress, especially when it happens - lol. Of course most of it will be done in the dark as there will be no electricity after 18th May because no renewal contract for fuel has been signed yet. Anyway, once my old car has the new "magic" chip fitted – wonder how much that will cost me - to monitor my position (GPS), the amount of fuel I use and routes I take, plus check if I have a current MoT, Tax and Insurance I won't be able to buy fuel so that's no problem either. Guess the traffic police will then out of a job as speeding tickets could conceivably be issued automatically (with GPS tracking) to see how long it takes between A and B?
However, on the figures published I will just own one of the 250,000 vehicles in the TRNC (really???, where do they get these figures from?) of which 60% or 77,000 (which calculator has been used here?) are tax dodgers or unregistered vehicles but being an honest and legal person I should then get back any road tax I have paid????
Don’t need to worry too much about any of it right now as the elections may be early this year so a new Government will simply change everything around – that is if the road works have not already started by then and stopped people getting to the polls in July!
Think it is finally time to service my Tilley lamp and go buy a donkey – progress, progress, progress!!!
