Today I witnessed a young girl driving a very expensive Land Rover while taking a selfie on her mobile phone.

This was a brainless act which could easily have led to yet another unnessary fatality.

Will they ever learn?

Don't forget Art, this brainless, cretinous "child" and her equally cretinous parents for having bought her the car in the first place, will consider it to be a terrible accident if anything were to happen. It occurs all the time. A few weeks ago a car load of "children" piled out of a 56K Merc and I would think the driver couldn't have been a day older than 17, if that. They just don't care. Regardless of the stupidity of the driver, according to C2D, it is an accident. Is it hell as like.!!!

The other day we saw a car driven by a woman and another passenger in the back. Miraculously they were both wearing seat belts but not the little girl, who was no more than 5, who was standing up between the 2 front seats distracting the driver. An accident waiting to happen, but bound to be someone else's fault!
Why aren't children strapped in, in proper car seats here?

The standard of driving in the TRNC is appalling.

I have said before that they obviously do not like their children, as they are more than happy to let them be killed in a minor accident rather than take the effort to strap them in.

The other alternative is that the parents are just stupid.

This winds me up.

I shouldn't have used the term "accident" as all crashes/incidents have a cause. The UK Police now use the term RTC (Road Traffic Collision) and not RTA.

Don't forget, it's God's Will and as such it's ordained. Tongue in cheek as I type.

There is a very powerful video that is doing the rounds on Facebook that should make any person think twice before using a phone whilst driving. Hopefully it will at least get the message across to some!

I think this video is part of a hard hitting campaign in the UK as a result of two recent court cases involving car phones.

While I agree with this,let's not forget the cretinous Brit immigrants that are no better than the locals you seem to think are bad drivers! Next time you are driving about,take a look. You,as I might just be surprised!.

Not sure who you are referring to Becker, but I find it unbelievable that a solicitor defending someone who has just killed a young man, a parent of two young children under three, can use as a defence that he was suffering from an illness that left him liable to pass out.
Excuse me but how can you sight that as a defence?
He should NOT have been driving, simple as!
I drove past that accident scene just after it happened. Pretty clear who was to blame illness or not. Hope the fact that he has money and a position on a board does not exclude him from justice!

Just the way I see it here in TRNC Panchochat. Not one particular case.

No one is saying Brits or other johnny foreigner drives perfectly, however I still maintain they are the exception rather than the rule. You only have to drive behind someone being taught to drive by a driving school instructer to see why. Rules of the road are totally ignored or unknown. Doesn't matter what it is, just something as basic as indicators.

The worst I've seen was recently a Pakistani family on a moped!!!! Father driving, 5 year old behind him and then his wife holding a NEWBORN BABY!!!!!! I was left totally speechless when he spun into the car park at Lemar in Çatalkoy

Unfortunately its a case of education but also a change of attitude too.
We live in a one way street, everyday we see people coming the wrong way, a big smile and apology far better than before a standoff you go back I'm not.
Seatbelts is law
Not using a mobile at the wheel is law
Wearing a helmet is law
Not drinking alcohol and driving is law
Taxing and insuring your car is law
Registering your dog is law
Pumping sewage in the med is against the law
And lots more but once accountability come to the TRNC the island will change and what most of us love about it will be gone forever. The island is too poor and rich to cope with the fine system unless they use a system where its based on the individual case.
Too many people want what they think is best but I bet all of us are guilty of breaking the law in one way or another.
But I just wish someone who texts and uses Facebook at the wheel of a moving vehicle can explain why they think they can look at the screen and drive, I just can not get my head around that one.

why would they worry Allah is driving the car while they text, drink drive, eat , look for something in the glove compartment !!!!
