Erdener supermarket beware

We bought some shopping from Erdener supermarket about 10 days ago. Yesterday we opened a pack of butter and it was moldy. We had another three packs in the fridge so returned them. They said that if we had not got the till receipt that they wouldn't do anything. So after shopping there for over 10 years we won't be going back. good customer services or what.

Had the same thing happen their . We called the manager and after heated discussion, we did get a refund.
We had the bill returned the same day and was not out of date. not on offer.

Was it a cheap offer and did you check the "sell by" date?

Dont most shops want some form of proof an item was bought from them before refunding/replacing?

i was thinking that most shops even in UK you need a till bill to return , its like most things out here the warranty lasts till it goes wrong , i bought an 4in angle grinder the blue heavy duty dearest as like all our tools we need reliability like our out fit 3 months not much use packs up take it back they charged me 42tl and said it had some dust in it that caused the problem so be care full with it to stop the dust how can you not get dust in an angle grinder that is for duel purpose use stone and metal .
I said from now on i will take the dust mask off and put it on the angle grinder and tell my staff to do the same
Can you really believe it because it amazes me every day spending fortunes on supplies and tools it wipe your mouth and walk away thats it

The same thing happened to us some time ago - we'd bought some light bulbs, had the receipt, and there were wrong light bulbs in the boxes - they said we couldn't exchange them or get a refund as we'd opened the boxes!!! Needless to say after an argument they were replaced, and we stopped shopping there - there's no such thing as customer service here

helendj, well actually there is in some places. I have taken articles back, some of which were pretty costly, some it needed people to come to the house to check on. However we did still have the invoice 2 years later to show them and goods replaced almost immediately. We have taken items of furniture back as well. .Supermarkets are a different kettle of fish though when things go wrong, invoice or no invoice!!

I think there is a problem with butter, as a friend of mine also bought butter in a different shop, hers' was also mouldy.

I bought some solar lights in the DIY shop at the Airport Mall, one didn't work but they replaced it with no fuss. Bought an expensive watch at s jewellers iin Girne that broke after 2 months. At first adamant they wouldn't change it but stood our ground and after about 10 minutes of arguing and us threatening to name and shame on this forum they did! I work in retail and know the value of good customer service which is sadly lacking in the Girne area, it seems a lot better in other places!

Maisiemoo, you're right, be firm and polite, and even after 2 years you don't have an invoice, invariably they will make a repair or at best a total replacement if you have some sort of paperwork. Supermarkets are a different matter. I too have had low fat spread which was blue scum all across the top and had been in a cold fridge for a week, so pointless taking that back, but I have had a more expensive piece of kitchenware which was cracked after unpacking. I thought I would have problems. The first girl I spoke to was useless, but then I called the Manager and he was fine.
