Anybody know why we are having so many power cuts at the moment? We are on our third one today, went off around 9.30 until lunch time, then a couple of hours this afternoon now been off around 2.5 hours this evening & still counting. Usually with planned maintenance it is one cut starting around 9 in the morning.

am told it is something to do with the building works on the road down to Erdener, but whether they hit the cable or disconnected it to connect something in, I do not know. Nor why it should happen after dark. Back now lets hope it stays that way at least till morning.

Perhaps there is a curse on the site for desecrating the olive grove!

We've had a couple in Esentepe. Sunday from 7ish until midday and yesterday from 4.45 until 5.30pm. These are the first we've had for months.

Around 45 minutes after it come back on in Ozankoy last night we had a further one lasting approx 1 1/2 hours and it finally came back on at 1am!
There was also a power cut on Monday night at 8.30 and this lasted approximately 45 minutes. Does anyone know why we are having these at such a late hour because I am assuming that building works would be finished at this hour?

Sadly I do not think they have grasped the concept of "planned Maintenance" in the TRNC. It appears that the policy is run it till it fails then attempt the repairs. Dogankoy had similar power outages yesterday, when it eventually came back on at 14;15 it was only 160 volts. Surely it should be on or off and not somewhere in between. How much damage has been caused to electronic equipment due to this erratic power supply?

Apparently the power cuts are planned and their times have been posted on the local Turk/Cyp newspaper. Might be something Cyprus Today could publish?

I hear that the Ozankoy cuts were due to the building works on the "Erdener" road: installling or connecting to a new substation. They were planned to be competed during the morning but the best laid plans of mice and men and Kibtec...............

It tell you it is dangerous to upset the spirits of the Olive Groves!
