I have not managed to find it here. Normally I bring it back from the UK.

Hi , I have chalk painted my own furniture. I bought Websters chalk paint powder in the UK and brought it over. You can mix this with any water based paint . It is easy to do and instruction are on the paper bag it comes in. It goes a long way, you also need to buy the clear wax or shellac finish in the UK to seal the paint afterwards.
There is a lot of help on various websites as well.

Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping I could get it in TRNC but it looks like a suit case job for me.

Chalk paint is a product of the 1920s.
There are more modern products now that do the job more efficiently.

You can buy a water based multi-primer in Marshalls which I have used on wood and laminate and then emulsion works fine. I'm currently doing laminate wardrobes and recently completed a coffee table. Marshalls also stocks a clear wax that they import from the UK. They are very helpful and will recommend the best products to use.

I've looked on web and I must admit it looks terrific but don't think I'm a good enough DIYer to risk doing it myself, unless I pick a door first which is rarely seen!

Hi Joandjelly

Took your advice re water based primer and have given my Pine dresser 2 coats next step a coat of emulsion. Will ordinary emulsion do. Does it chip or rub off or does the primer stop this.
Thanks
George

Hi George I did 1 coat primer and 3 coats slightly watered down emulsion. No chipping or rubbing so far but I don't actually know if the primer would stop it.
