Can anyone tell me ( & others) where I can get tickets for the Boomtown Rats gig & is it in Famugusta ? It's at the Mederterranian University stadium & I think that's in famugusta ?

It was advertised as a free gig so maybe no tickets needed. Yes it's in Famagusta. I was a big fan of the band back in their heyday and saw them live at Hammersmith Odeon on their 'Fine Art of Surfacing' tour. Very good.
However, since Geldof has now morphed into an odious, bitter, ranting bully who thinks everyone should think as he does, I will not be going. I just couldn't face looking at him for a couple of hours, despite the music.

Well it wasn't hard was it to find the information, you were given links to get you going to do your own research and no one was wasting your time or making "silly remarks" and quite frankly your just rude and don't deserve to be helped by anyone.

Bob Geldof DID NOT attack fishermen – just the opposite.

His rant (if you want to call it that) was against Nigel Farage who was pretending to be a friend of fishermen, but in fact has done nothing to help them in all his years as an MEP.

What Geldof actually said was:
"Here are the facts about fishing. One, Britain makes more money than any other country in Europe from fishing. Two, Britain has the second largest quota for fish in Europe after Denmark. Three, Britain has the third largest landings. Four, you are no fisherman's friend.
"You were on the European Parliament Fishing Committee and you attended one out of 43 meetings."
The last point is especially relevant.

Beg to differ there MoonageDaydream, he booed shouted obscene things with his rich friends from his Yacht to our fishermen in their trawlers when they went up the Thames, it was disgusting behaviour from Geldof as his cronies were all drunk with him trying to intimidate others who had a different opinion than him! Branson was no better, both to big for their boots. ...
I would not cross the road to see or hear this over inflated scruffy rich bully ...
As I have said I would have to be paid to go to this jibberish rat gig ...

Pity that the BBC reports failed to notice this, and got so much else wrong - thank God that you were actually there to give a true and factual account...
However, I must admit that I also find Geldof's manner and attitude arrogant and unpleasant, and his music is not especially to my taste - but both attitude and music greatly helped in the "Live Aid" and similar appeals...

Could not pay me to see this piece of s--t.

We went, absolutely excellent concert. Performed like a person half his age and still sounded the same (unlike Sir Elton who we saw in November). The two support bands were very good too......glad we made the effort.

Got to agree it was a good night , by no stretch of the imagination is there music my cup of tea but it was a jolly up with friends and apart from the fact there was no drinks available , not even water !! Oppatunity missed there as about 1000 people turned out & if they spent 30 tl each that's 30'000 tl take ,!!!

It was a good gig, & yes he was jumping about for 2 hours & at 68 I think that's pretty dam good.

Yes it was a great gig - glad I went.

There were drinks available, but not at the stadium, there is a cafe about 3-4 minutes walk away, but it wasn't signposted,a nd if you've not been to the EMU campus before, then you wouldn't know that......I did manage to buy a t-shirt though!
