We are almost certain we have termites.

After seeing brown crusty tube like structures growing larger and now loads of what we thought were flying ants we have found out it could actually be termites coming up from the ground and living in our front door.
Can anyone suggest a contractor in the north that will be able to undertake a thourough check and deal with the problem effectively.

I've just had exactly the same problem. Just my door frame affected though.
I called ORKIN PEST CONTROL 0392 4440700
They will ask where you live, put you through to the person for your area, then arrange for someone to investigate.
Then will come back and drill 2 x 36cm deep but small holes. These they fill with a chemical that kills the ants. The small hole is covered so that you don't see it. Quote is 250TL for each door affected. Of course you then need to replace the door or frame if it has been eaten away.

I did spray mine with Fly spray and that killed them for now. Apparently they only appear at this time of year. The rest of the time they are happily eating their way through the wood.

We had same thing a couple of years ago, beledeyesi came we no longer have a problem and at no extra charge.....he did tell me off for keep spraying them, I think what he puts down he needs the termites to take back to the nest, if you spray them it doesn't work......
